Guardians and Families of Hope Leadership Academy Students,
We are very excited to share that we will be opening our doors for Full-time In-person Learning beginning on Tuesday, April 6, 2021! Monday, April 5th will be an Online day for ALL students as our staff prepares for the Full Return on Tuesday, April 6th. We look forward to having our students in the building 4 days a week! Students will come to school Monday through Thursday each week until the last day of school (May 26th) with Fridays being ALL ONLINE for EVERYONE! We will no longer have students only 2 days a week. We are expecting all students that have currently been on a Hybrid Schedule to transition to 4 days a week in person, unless you call the school and tell us otherwise. All students that have been Online have the option of switching to Full-time In-Person Learning as well. We will only offer these two options:
Full In-Person Learning, Monday - Thursday. Friday will continue to be virtual.
Full Online Learning, five days a week.
Please inform us if you are switching to Online or Full In-Person by Friday,
March 19, 2021.
WHY DID WE DECIDE THIS?
Research shows that elementary-aged students are contracting and transmitting the virus barely at all. Specifically, serious consideration should be paid toward strategies that allow schools to remain open, thereby minimizing the potentially profound adverse social, emotional, developmental, and health costs that our children will continue to suffer.
The majority of our staff will have received the first vaccine dose by the April 6th date.
Also, after calling and speaking with many of you, the response was overwhelmingly to return to Full In-person Learning.
We hope to increase academic learning as well as meeting more of the social and emotional needs of our students by returning to school 4 days a week. Friday will be an Online Instruction Day for all so that teachers can regroup and have follow-up with students that may need it.
WHAT WILL THE PROTOCOLS BE?
All staff and students will be expected to wear a mask each and every day.
Students will be expected to distance, however, 6 feet will not be possible with the numbers of students that will be in each class. 3 feet will be our goal.
Students will have desk shields.
Staff will report their temperature each morning and student’s temperatures will be taken twice daily.
Sanitizer machines have been installed for daily student use.
Students will use cups and not drink directly from the water fountain.
HOW DO I SHARE MY CHOICE FOR APRIL 6th?
Please contact the school office at 816-921-1213. You can also email to share your choice at email@example.com.
WHAT IS THE EXPECTATION OF MY STUDENT DAILY?
We expect that you send your student to school healthy, clean, in uniform and wearing a mask daily.
If your student has a fever, they should NOT attend school until they have been fever-free for 24 hours WITHOUT medication.
Reminder that uniforms are:
Shirts- HLA shirt or white, gray or green shirt.
Bottoms- Khaki, black or navy blue.
Students must come with their tablet or laptop fully charged each day.
In addition, we expect that you support us in our efforts to continue the education of your student, while we all work towards remaining healthy.
Thank you for your continued support,
Robert N. Milner
